Mark VII (The Old One) Motor

While looking for parts I cam across an ad on E-Bay for Mark VII motor rebuild for $80. Does anyone know anything about this service and if they are reputable?

In my opinion, yes.
However realize it will not fix the reverse problem.

Not sure what that answer means but the service if from Simon Eng in Anaheim Hills and he restores the motors and they will run both directions.JPG wrote:In my opinion, yes.

In a different thread, Steamdragon explained that his Mark VII motor ran ok in forward, but only hummed in reverse.
If the motor runs in forward, then the motor itself should be Ok, because it uses the exact same windings, start circuitry, etc. to run in either forward or reverse. The only difference is that the polarity of the start-winding voltage is reversed in order to make it run in reverse. That is the function of the reversing switch. If the motor just hums when the reversing switch is set to Reverse, it probably means that the reversing switch is not conducting.

I was never able to get the MK VII switches on any of the MK VIIs I brought or serviced to function properly. I converted a couple of the MK VIIs to switches by using a 20 amp motor rated DPDT toggle switch for the FWD/REV switch and a 20 Amp motor rated DPST switch for the ON/OFF switch in a metal plate screwed to where the push buttons were located.
