41-1/2" high. 64-1/2" long. 25" deep.

I still need to attach, the slice I took off the bottom of both sides (so it wont roll) to each side, to create a mini table area and wish to try and find 4 inch foam, for the seating surface.

If all else fails, maybe some burlap, stuffed with straw will work. It certainly would add to the rustic charm of this bench!

In all total, I have about $60 into it, with materials, but I about 20 man hours, involved. Since it was my first, go with this type of structure, the man hours, are high!

I was told, in the right place, right time, right whatever... I can expect to get nearly $400 for it. So we shall see!

It certainly is HEAVY!

It's unique for sure. What finish do you plan to use?

I intend to just put poly on it. If is gets any stain, I may try Honey Oak. I just love all the character in these planks!

Just a suggestion, you might want to put the carriage bolts through the opposite way for looks as well as safety. Would not want to run up against those threads by accident.

But that would go against the rustic theme!

They are not carriage bolts, they are 1/2 inch all thread sections. I intend to grind down the extra length, to the head of each nut. Then, there will be the extra slice of the spool attached with a 2x4 cleat, near the top of each end, this lil projection, should aid in folks getting that close to the spool ends.

Today, I spent a butt load of money for a 24 inch wide, 5 foot long and 4 inch thick, high density foam, for the seating surface, along with 3-1/2 yards of natural burlap, to cover the foam with.

When this spool bench is finally finished, my asking price will be $400. Sure sounds like a steep price, but if I price, much lower, then it wouldn't be worth me building these!

Here is the final product. It is done!

Finish is, strictly Vinegar/Steel Wool. No poly, no varnish. I did this so the future customer can decide, what he or she wants on it!

This concoction requires at least a few days in the hot sun, to brew. Pour vinegar in a sealed glass jar, over 1/2 pad of "000" steel wool and let it, do its thing for a few days. Each day, give it a shake or two.

If you are using, coated steel wool (some sort of light weight oil) add plain rubbing alcohol (RA), to the mix (about a tablespoon). The RA, acts as an excelerator. Speeds up, the removal of the light weight oil!
