I have shopsmith planer on a stand .Can I put caster wheels on the stand,that came off a 510. thanks happy woodworking

You tell me. Is the caster assembly long enough to span from leg to leg on your planer stand?

Yes as far as I know with a few caveats. The castor assemblies are all the same I think. However, spacers are needed. The pictures on the SS web site all show spacers even for the MK V. However the spacers are not needed for the MK V. There are 3 different part numbers, 556354 for the MK V (no spacers needed). Major accessory stands need the spacers ( planer, power station and SPT power stands). The P/N for all these stands is 555353. I have one of each of these stands and the spacers are all the same. The Stand alone scroll saw is different and has it's own part number (555457). The web site shows the stock caster picture but it can not be correct unless the casters are different (I doubt). There must be a different adapter other than just spacers. I seem to remember seeing a set of scroll saw caster adapters on eBay a long time ago. I made my own from 3/4" Baltic Birch. The first picture is the spacers on my Pro Planer. They are exactly the same on my Power Station and the Power Stand that my band saw is mounted on. The second picture is the adapters that I made for the stand alone scroll saw.

So now for the short answer. Yes, you just need spacers. I can measure mine if you want.

To use the caster assemblies on the Spt Stand, planer stand, or Power station, you need slightly different hardware. The part number that you need is hardware package 514149 and the template 845043 could be needed. This hardware package does use different screws and washers than the Mark V package. The scroll saw hardware package is also different from both of these. The caster bracket assemblies are the same on all three.

IIRC the spacers are 9/16", hence the need for longer screws.
