Recently needed to upgrade an under basement floor drain using a "quad flow trap seal" but to install it, had to make an adapter ring having inside diameter of 4".

I got a piece of 3/4" thick high density polyethylene (hdpe) and cut out a 6" ring on the Shopsmith bandsaw, using a fine blade. Before I started, I was wondering how the bandsaw blade would react to the plastic, however it cut beautifully, giving fine sawdust and no heating or binding:

Finally, here is the ring installed with stainless screws and the quad flow trap seal.

The hose is the drain from a dehumidifier. The blue thing is a marine bilge pump switch used to sound a high water alarm!
