I have found a Shopsmith 10E (serial 10074) for $150. It comes with a custom built cabinet, saw guard, lathe knives, chuck, sanding disk and paper, etc. The unit is in decent condition and is operable.

What are the various differences between the 10E and 10ER?

There are three basic things. The table trunnion fixed indexing mechanism is different. The 10ER fence has a clamp on the out feed side of the table. The 10E tail stock was different in the way it mounted the aux table and with the 10E you only get the aux table bracket. The table top was user made from plywood. As such the fence could only be mounted on the table in one position. The 10ER aux table came with an aluminum (early cast iron)table and fence rail.

All parts are interchangeable. The biggest difference is the fence and the aux table. These parts are readily available on eBay to upgrade the machine to a 10ER.

BTW, $150 is a very good price. Offer $100 and settle for $125 and you have a great deal.

Add the quill feed stop/scale to the list.(return spring housing etc.)

Also the miter gauge pointer is different.

And, the rip fence mounted to the aux(wooden) table with studs and is not movable in/out from the blade.
