Lift Assist

I recently mounted a Mark 5 to the wall in drill press mode and just love it. I have taken my lift assist off my 520 and am now considering about selling it. Any thoughts on why I should keep it? I don't see myself ever taking the the Mark 5 off the wall as my drill press.

I tilt (to vertical) to do some maintenance tasks that require work inside the headstock. That is one reason, other than using the drill press mode, why I would go vertical. So long as you are capable of going vertical without the aid of the lift assist, I see no reason why you need to keep it.
I am not a good one to take advise from, however. I tend to keep almost anything/everything I bring into the shop.
"If you don't use it - lose it" does not apply to me. On the other hand "if you MIGHT need it, keep it" does.

Sell something off???
About the only time I talk of selling something off is when I am trying to rationalize a purchase to Diana...
Then after a while it is forgotten. Another tactic is actually putting something up for sale but pricing it so high that a small item if actually sold would pay for a Caribbean cruise.
I have an antique tractor friend whose wife told him he could buy parts for restoring his old numerous old tractors but "No more tractors"... He claims to have quietly trailered home several complete old tractors a section at a time and several weeks apart. He then said that he would park the sections in different spots in the woods and sneak them into the shop a few days apart where he would reassemble them back into complete tractors and park them in the back of the tool shed when his wife was away for a day. When quizzed about a particular tractor he would just say "Oh, I've had that one for years".

He says that the main thing is to not park too many where they can all be seen at the same time.
