Power needs?

How much power is required to use a late 70's Mark V?
Reason I am asking is, in the not to distant future I may be thinking about, buying an old school bus and converting it into a traveling wood/leather shop and my Mark V, will be bolted to the floor and made mobile.
I may be deploying this concept, in the spring of 2016. Do the bus conversion from spring to end of summer and once winter approaches. Shut down the house, to low settings and take off, in my vagabond direction, with my pups!

Power requirements just = voltage * amperage.
You'd have to check the motor tag, but mine that is right around that age is 13 amps.
120v * 13 amps = 1560 watts.
However you need to size your power supply slightly larger than that because the demand on a circuit shouldn't be more than 80% of total capacity.

My uncle had a school bus that he converted to a camper. If I recall he had to paint it a color other then yellow but that was about it for the outside. Inside was never really finished, the seats were taken out and some beds added as well as storage areas etc. Left the windows in but painted the ones in the sleeping area. Cooking was done outside. Anyway when I was 12 years old we went to visit him and spent the summer in the bus, our home away from home. So I lived in a bus for 10 weeks, quite the experience, got plenty warm inside in the afternoon, that was the worst.
So back to the power requirements. Starting current is much higher then the run current. If you are sizing a generator I'd look to see what the surge current it can supply as that might be the controlling factor.
Since you might want a few other things powered on at the same time you will have to think about what all you will want to take care of that too. If you plan to live in while out and about the bigger load might be cooling??

EM, it is not just running amps but in rush at start, but I am guessing without getting out the calculator a SS started up on a low speed has less of an inrush amps/voltage draw down then a constant speed motor. I am sure JPG will have a more accurate answer for you.

Inrush current is 45-50A. With the speed dial set to slow, the duration of the inrush current is much reduced, but the peak inrush current (aka "locked-rotor current") is not affected.
