I know someone here came up with a parts list to make a set up for ERs, but can this one be used without much modification on an ER?

All I get with your link is a log in screen. However, I mounted a SS table raiser on my SS dedicated drill press. The carriage and head stock are reversed on the way tubes so the mount was not per the SS instructions. However, it mounted fine with the SS hardware.

I thought of using the same table raiser on a 10ER. I never really looked but I think it will work just fine. I will try and check it out in the next day or two. If I don't post please PM me and I will check.

JSBurger, yes it is going on an ER, is the weight different then a MarkV to give it enough lift? They are on sale till 11/5, so I would appreciate your info b4 then.

The extra weight should make a difference, but it should still 'assist' anyway, just not enough.

The tube may interfere with the table raising crank.

Never have understood the table raiser. If a guy has a problem lifting or lowering the table, Why not just pull the table out of the carriage, change the height of the carriage then slide the table back in.
Is the table too heavy? Gotta be less than most SPTs!

Me neither.

However one has to do it properly so as to not put the carriage into a bind. i.e. raise/lower the carriage, not the table. Pulling up on the table will create a bind.

Now lowering, you must still support the carriage.

Maybe the larger 505-520 tables are more difficult(they certainly are heavier).

Surprisingly there is no extra weight on the 10ER, it weighs less.

I weighed all the parts and here is how it breaks out.

MK V 520 table, 520 fence and carriage.

Fence 8#
Carriage 7#
Table 26#
Total 41#

10ER table, fence and carriage.

Fence 2#
Carriage 12#
Table with solid tubes 19#
Total 33#

Even without the fence the 10ER is lighter so weight is not a factor.

As far as the table raiser crank mentioned by JPG, it is a factor but will not prevent one from using the table raiser. The gas cylinder is in line with the crank. However, the cylinder is easy to remove from the ball mounts. It has a spring loaded collar on each end. Just pull the collars back and remove the cylinder.

The table raiser is not needed in drill press mode so turn the crank flush with the carriage and install the gas cylinder. In horizontal mode remove the gas cylinder and the table raiser is available.

It also should mount fine with the brackets supplied by SS. So I would go for it on sale. In fact I may pick one up for my 10ER dedicated drill press.

Thanks John for your thoughtful work. I will pick one up, I was not able to do the research myself, I have only been at home in Appleton for a over night stay last month. Staying at moms now that she is home and is just below the "line" that she cant live at home anymore by herself, and I am NOT putting her in the "home" and watch her rot away, and at about $300 a day to sit in a one room area with minimal attention and interaction.

John which one do I want to order for an ER? The one for the 510-520 or 500?
