Do you find it dark under your patio umbrella? I don't have one so I don't know.

How ever while out shopping today at Rural King, needed some more tractor paint and that is where I buy it. But I like to walk and look around because they have all sorts of interesting stuff from tools to food to clothes to free popcorn.

So I see this 24 LED Umbrella Light that installs around most standard umbrella poles with spring loaded clamps. Features include quick release button to open light for mounting and removal. It required 4 AA batteries which I buy in bulk so how much is this thing going to cost me? I take it up with me when I go to check out. The sales person says $4.48. Sounds like a bargain right?

So let us take a closer look at this "tool".

By now some of you will already know what is coming. Hint for those who do not.... it sitting on a shopsmith.

OK mystery solved.

Here I have it mounted on the end of the quill. While it might work OK there for most applications there is a possibility that it could fall off and you will have wasted $5 and have a hunk of junk to deal with. So better safe then sorry it also mounts higher up as shown here.

So lets light it up.

Now I take it to my drill press set up and turn off the other lights.

Tomorrow I go back and get one to see if I can modify it for use with my camera.......
