I bought an Er this weekend, it came with a scroll saw, just getting a chance to look it over, and the bucket of parts for both, I went to Vintage Machinery and down loaded the info for it/scroll saw, and briefly read it. I need to go back to the bucket and see what I got for mounting. Any insight her appreciated since I have not read much about them and all new for me on this one.

Mine is just amazing. Works great

One bolt attaches it. I am concerned about the presserfoot being made of pot metal, but I have seen replacements made of aluminum.

Top half comes off (with a spacer for the bolt) and turns into a saber saw using standard hand jig saw blades.

Very impressive operation for something 60 years old. Took mine apart (like I did the rest of the machine), cleaned it up, painted it Verde Green and carried on. Not much to it ....

Where did you see those aluminum replacement feet? Mine was badly cracked/crazed when I got it, and then a minor accidental drop broke it in half.

Harumph!!! It is a 'jig' saw.

I think it was Skip at MKC. You might want to drop him a line. If it wasn't he will probably know who has it or makes them.

Let me know if you find out. I may get one just 'cause ....

Edit: it was just a block of aluminum with holes drilled at the correct angle for the guide material and a tapped hole for the pressure foot bolt. Pretty simple. An engineer type like yourself could probably make one in your sleep .....

I believe that bolt is not an off the shelf item.

FWIW, both Hogwinslow and Simon*e have them listed most of the time on eBay. They are listed as new so either they have found a source or are making them. My guess is the latter.

That is correct. I was missing the bolt and I got mine off of ebay. I don't know if it was H and S or not, but it works ....

For scrolling do the blades the MS sells fit the old scroll saws from the ER era?

Quite right!

A scroll saw has an inner frame that holds the blade,
(think coping saw) and keeps tension on the blade, too.

A jigsaw has a spring, that the blade pulls against for tension.

And, the Model 10 one IS a jigsaw.

They are actually jig saws not scroll saws but yes they fit I believe.
