Re: bandsaw blade coming off
Check for missing thrust bearing and/or guide blocks? Parts 63, 74, 77, 98, 101, 106 on this diagram. http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/manuals/845541.pdf
Also check the tracking adjustment and belt tension. Others will have more info than I do, but you can start with this.
Edit: The bearings and/or guides may just need adjustment.

Check the upper wheel 'cant'.Bruce wrote:Check for missing thrust bearing and/or guide blocks? Parts 63, 74, 77, 98, 101, 106 on this diagram. http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/manuals/845541.pdf

The upper wheel should 'lean' back at the top.
A straight edge placed flat against the upper wheel should clear the top of the lower wheel(1/8 to 1/4).
The determination of 'correct' is that the back of the blade tracks about 1/8" to 1/4" from the back edge of the upper wheel tire.
Obviously if it is slipping off the front, it is not tracking properly.
There is no tracking 'adjustment', however the upper tracking bearing needs to be set properly(to assure the blade is centered on the bearing and the bearing is perpendicular to the blade path). The lower guide bearing is not adjustable. The backup bearing(above the table) should just miss the back of the blade. The guides should be 'open' when checking all that.
When you have 'time' I recommend 'this'. http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/viewtopic.php?t=8542

Re: bandsaw blade coming off
Another thing to check is your speed. If a bandsaw is run to fast it will have this problem as well. I don't have a power station but I would suggest checking the documentation to be sure you have it configured correctly for the bandsaw.

Is the blade coming off the front of the wheel or the rear of the wheel?
Are you trying to back out of a cut?
What speed are you running the Power Station at?
You may want to try to disconnect the bandsaw from the power station and turn the wheel by hand and watch to see where the wheel and blade track. Also make sure that the tracking bearing is properly positioned to guide the blade on to the upper wheel. It is next to the tension scale.
I would not suspect that the Power Station is causing the problem although they do have more vibration than I would like.
The upper and lower guide bearings and guide blocks should be properly adjusted according to the bandsaw manual.

3 (1200) is too fast.scorelesssteve wrote:wa2crk it seems to be the front of the top wheel .yes its when i back out the power station speed goes by numbers i havent been over 3 . ive adjusted the blocks so they barely touch
1 (850) is a medium setting for the bandsaw, but is as slow as the ps will run.

Unless the cut is straight, backing out is a definite NO-NO. Even in a straight cut it is not recommended.
JPG is correct 1200RPM way too fast. 850 RPM just about at the top of the speed range in feet per minute.
The band saw wheel is jut under one foot in diameter which yields a circumference of close to 3 feet. At 850 RPM the FPM is about 2550 FPM.
At 1000 RPM it is about 3000FPM. I don't like to run my bandsaw above about 1500 - 1700 FPM. My bandsaw is on a separate Power Stand and if I recall the blade speed is in the 1500 FPM range.

At 1200 rpm = 3600 fpm = 60 fp SECOND!!!!! = 10 trips around the wheels / second.wa2crk wrote:Steve
