I was putting some of my saxophone videos on my new YouTube channel and you know YouTube, this was a suggestion

This guy blew me away. To me, he is a master craftsman .....

I finally had time to finish watching the videos. And I must say, I never would have believed it possible to make something that nice from just a lowly 2x4 and a few bits of hardwood. I also learned several new & useful woodworking techniques while being entertained. Thanks for sharing!

I want to know where to go to get a quartersawn 2x4 like he had!

Go buy the best 2x12 you can find, and then rip 3-1/2" off of the best edge!

I thought you might have me on that one, Red. But as luck would have it, I have a fresh pile of 2x6 cutoffs in my garage, from my attic-flooring project. The access hatch is too small to use sheet goods for flooring, so I'm using 2x6's instead.

While the cutoff piece in the photo is certainly not typical, I bought it at Home Depot just a few weeks ago. 2x6x10' lumber cost $0.56/bf, and you can sort & pick all you want.

I hear you Dennis, I bought some 96 inch 2x4 that were just what the master bought at Foxworth-Galbraith last week. I had to pick through it a little, but it was there. Looked just like what he used for the uke ....
