i am a owner but i am to the point that we all would be better off if some one came along and built a knock off Shop Smith where the first would get real and quite trying to empty all our pockets and charge prices that are in the real world and not next century. but whom knows we may get a China knock off

There have been several clones over the years, but all out of business.

Nevertheless, Shopsmith is effectively in competition with itself and its own output over the last 50 years. Other than the new Power Pro, everything Shopsmith makes or has ever made can be had second hand via ebay or craigslist, often in excellent condition and sometimes "new in box" condition, at far lower prices than buying new from Shopsmith.

OK, it's your first post here, and you're stirring up "stuff."

But, to address your "point," ever looked at old ads
for the Model 10? (10ER and 10E?)

You can find them for $100 to $500. AND, they're
every bit as durable as the newer stuff.

If you're not a SCAB, stay a while and look around.
You MAY learn something. (From your only post,
doubt it, though.)

Exactly right. There were clones built in China. If you want one of those, buy one, but beware that by now they are all broken, don't work, and there are no parts to fix them. Put one of them in your shop and you will have much bigger problems than you do now.
Your Shopsmith is likely much older than the left over clones floating around. The Shopsmith still works or can be made to work with new parts from Shopsmith. The clones are just scrap iron.

I highly recommend that you go out and buy other power tools to do what you can do on your Shopsmith. After you have used them for a year or two, come back here and give us a report on just how satisfied you are with those tools.

If that does not fit in your plans, how about sharing with us what it is about your Shopsmith that you are so dissatisfied with. There is a better than even chance that we can help you resolve your problems.

BTW - What model Shopsmith do you have? Did you buy it or was it gifted to you? Is there a chance that you are already using a knockoff?

I have another 'recommendation'.

Get one on those Chinese clones.

Securely attach a log chain to it.

Transport it to a nearby bridge over deep water.

Attach the loose end of that chain securely to one ankle.

Push the clone off the bridge.

All I have to say is you get what you pay for.

C'mon guys! Lighten up. He's new here and by the way it was written probably three sheets to the wind. That tends to bring to the surface things that really annoy us and cause us to say what we think without thinking. I feel much the same way about SS's monopolistic pricing but also recognize some solid value for prices that I consider way too high; unlike our federal government which costs us trillions and provides little value in return. It does create multi-millionaires out of formerly broke politicians.
