I thought some might enjoy this page. I thought some of the comments were interesting especially since I know that many of us now face such challenges.

Thanks for pointing this out Francis. Christopher Schwarz is one of my favorite woodworkers and authors and I did not see this back in June. He's big into hand tools. I did not know he had any connection at all to Shopsmith but I guess everyone is connected to everything eventually. Great article for all of us to ponder.

I might add another thought. Do YOU have a woodworking hero? If I may be so bold, I would guess Francis' hero would be Roy Underhill. You've written about him a few times. Mine would be Norm Abram. His show is what made me get into woodworking.

Roy Underwood or Norm Abram - darn, that would be a hard choice.

Let's just have them both back, each with a one hour show on Saturday mornings, at about 9:00 am. I'd even stick around afterwards (most times) to watch Ron Hazelton do his tricks.

Thank you Francis!

That was a great article. My FIL was my WW hero. Couldn't pick up much from him in technique (lots of reasons), but he really inspired me, and most importantly, steered me to Shopsmith. I will always be grateful to him for that .....

There are too many that I admire. I guess anyone that can use a sharp tool and still has all his digits is my hero.
