Saw Table

Purchased a used Shopsmith Mark V, 1981 and when I got it home found that the Saw Table would not attach so it can move up or down. Everything seems to be working properly but gears will not mesh for movement.
Any ideas as to what problem might be? Table was in place and worked when I purchased but removed for transporting to my shop and cannot get it to mount properly.

They can be a bit temperamental especially if the teeth are a bit worn/damaged on the wheels the table rods inter face with. Some times just have to wiggle it a bit, but force is not your friend here.

Thanks for advise. I was getting a bit frustrated and about ready for the hammer. Did get it working after waxing and a whole lot of wiggling.

Now that you have the table installed in the carriage, does it crank up and down easily. It should move with only a minimum of effort and that effort should be similar from top to bottom.

Check the teeth at the end of the posts.
Make sure both the tubes and 'gears' are free of debris.
