Santa Amazon stopped by this morning and dropped off a set of Narex mortising chisels. Sharp as can be out of the box. I will give more of a report in a few days, I will be in the shop between Xmas and NYs.

I will look forward to your review (and pix) as I am in the market for a set of mortising chisels myself.

Pics will be coming next week, I did read a thread where the metal rings at the handle end where you hit them with a mallet were cracking. I have no idea what was being used as the striker, or how common it is, time will tell.

I have had a set for a year or two now but never used them.
FYI- Lee Valley also sells them and they have free shipping right now with Min. order.

Can't say much about the mortise chisels, but the standard narex chisels are fantastic. I actually had to go buy a set of cheap chisels for rough work that needed more "persuasive" chisels. Little to no honing and sharp enough to shave end grain easily. Hopefully you end up as happy with the mortising chisels as I have with the standard chisels.

So had them at the shop and to my personal sharpener, he said he could not get them any sharper then they came and he sharpens dangerously sharp. I did cut a mortise and seemed okay, I say that because I have only cut a couple by hand and then it was using a bench chisel. It followed a straight and made the walls truer, and do to there angle paired better then a bench chisel.

Thanks, but I was hoping to get close up photos of what he actually received versus the stock photo.
