My dad wanted to make his great granddaughter a Christmas present. He turned 90 this year and enlisted my help since he has become a little unsteady. We decided to make the Shopsmith Childs Glider. With the exception of hand tools we made the entire chair with his 35 year-old shopsmith and attachments. We really enjoyed working on it and are looking forward to giving it to her in a couple days. We thought you all might be interested in seeing it; maybe you might want to make one of your own!

Nice and the upholstery work really makes it. Your SS is just a youngen at 35. Dad looks pretty spry too.

A gorgeous glider - and not only that, but a great story that touches our hearts. That gives me an idea for my Great Grandaughter in a couple years. She is only 5 months old for this Christmas.

Do we get to see a four-generation photo after Christmas?

How is the curved back made? I couldn't see any laminations, but it looks pretty large for cutting (the arc) on a SS bandsaw.
