Incra Miter Express vs Incra Miter Sled 5000

I purchased a Miter Express several month ago. As I'm awaiting my wood shop to be constructed soon, my Miter Express is still in the box. Now I see the Miter sled 5000. Can someone contrast these two products? Can I simply add an Incra Miter gauger to my Miter Express & have it work the same or am i comparing apples to oranges?

I use a ME and Incra 2000 gauge and fence. You will never pry it off of my saw set-up on SS #1

If you look at price the Miter express is selling for $146.46 and 2000 is $183.51 total is $329.97 while the 5000 sled is 315.71 not much difference.

With the Miter express you have both a sled and miter gauge should you want to use another miter on the sled or the miter gauge alone.

With the 5000 sled you have a very good sled probably one of the best, which might be slightly more accurate than the Miter Express/guide setup. But I doubt the difference is really enough to squabble over.

I would say it is probably like comparing a half dozen to 6 of another. But that is the opinion from someone that owns neither.

Howdy,

I had ordered the Miter 2000, then got to thinkng about how many cuts would be done with a miter gage, and decided those cuts would be best done on a sled. I looked at the Express and 2000, then compared them to the 5000. Ed's right, it is six of one, half doz of the other. In the end, I thought the 5000 might be a better integration of the two tools. I made the swap. I love the 5000. It is a fantastic system and I am not sorry for the swap. IMHO, the 5000 brings out the very best of my 510. In fact, the system is more accurate than me...so I have room to grow. :D

Best Regards,

I did not look at $$- I already had my miter gauge. Today, I would probably go 5K.mt
