And got a few pictures. Always enjoy seeing them even if they are a lot more common now then before. There is a section of river with a path next to it and we take walks there, even saved a beaver along the way once. There is a dam up the way and more then likely a good area to winter in due to food supply. Been such a mild winter that I expect there is a lot of open water back up in WI so few of the eagles have ventured down this way yet.
We are in for another cold snap so maybe some more will be there on our next adventure.

Amazing photos. Bald Eagles are just majestic to behold.

The Bosque Del Apache here in NM http://www.fws.gov/refuge/bosque_del_apache/ has many Bald Eagles here in NM. We love seeing them.

Great pictures. In the first one the eagle seems a little haggard or was the wind just blowing his feathers?

Here inTampa many of our utility poles have platforms for Eagles and Ospreys. Both are fascinating to watch. Usually the platforms are so high you can't see much. But when mom shows up all of sudden heads pop up looking for food.

We call our shop Eagle's Lair Wood Shop because there is a nesting pair of Eagles about 1 1/2 miles NW of the shop. They have been there for years. About 5 or 6 years ago they had a fly in. We looked out one morning and there were Eagles everywhere. My wife stopped counting at 35. They have young about every other year.

The first picture shows the nest tree as it appears to the naked eye. The second picture is full zoom with my Fugifilm Fine Pix S1800.

I have been following a nesting pair of bald eagles, just a few miles from my house in Greenfield Indiana. This photo was from the pair early in the spring. I have a couple of Flickr albums following the pair for nearly a year if anyone is interested..

Always like pictures of bald eagles, saw one flying this weekend while camping with the Boy Scouts.

Persistence and patience is definitely a large part of the mix. But like real estate; location, location, location is another important part. This pair is the first nesting pair in Hancock County, Indiana in 100 years. The nest site is just a few hundred feet from a road to a dead end housing addition. I have a couple of friends who live in the area so I have access to good parking right across from the field the eagles reside in. There are a small but dedicated group who spend a couple of hours every few days looking at mostly empty trees, but occasionally you get lucky.

The camera is a Canon 60D, purchased used a,d a Sigma 150-500 telephoto, also purchased used. The combo did cost about the same as my Shop Fox saw
