Yea Del a where? While the lost of life was tragic in the storm there were also some good times. Our daughter and family took time to enjoy the deeper snow, something rather rare in their neck of the woods. We had been checking in with her and she has been providing us with pictures. I thought I would share this one with you.

Excellent picture Ed! By the way, How much did you end up with? Here in Millersville,Md., We received 22".
I worked 6 hrs. yesterday on the driveway and from 9:30 this morning until 6:25pm. With any kind of luck, I will have most of it finished by tomorrow afternoon...

If it all melts at once (we are going to hit the 50 degree mark for sustained periods next week), I'll really need a swamp buggy!

She never did give us a total but it was a lot for them for sure. There was no school today and I guess they will go from there. My daughter was hoping to work from home today, don't know if that worked out for her or not. She is on the "critical" list so she will be working from somewhere today.
As a reference here in the Chicago land area I think the largest snow I can remember is about 21" but I'm a transplant so it is possible they had more that I don't know about pre 1973.
I remember once taking my wife to be from college to her home town of Bessemer MI (UP) and getting in about 4:00 in the afternoon and it just started to snow. Got up in the morning to head back to IL but 18" of snow had fell between times. It was still snowing so I decided it wasn't worth the effort to try and leave that day but by the following day it was as if nothing had happened. I don't recall the total amount of snow that storm but it must have been in the 2 foot range. Of course they were use to that sort of thing so it was no biggie as they say up there.

About 10 years earlier Chicago got buried. The county where I went to HS had a snow blower(lotta deep passes in SW WI in spite of snow fences) that was sent to help dig out what I assume were all those underpasses.

At the risk of getting "political" here, let me state something
I saw in the "News."
"DC has announced that all NON-ESSENTIAL employees should
stay home."
Uh, Washington, why do we have NON-ESSENTIAL employees
anyway? Can't they stay home PERMANENTLY?

Heard on the news that in 1967 Chicago got 23" of snow, the largest total to date. Again before my time here. I think it is the anniversary of that storm today. Missed part of the report........
