I have been meaning to make a chisel rack for sometime. I was digging around this morning and found a cannibalized roller stand from HF back in the corner so I decided to repurpose it and make a stand for the lathe chisels. Nothing fancy but should work.

Nifty. I've got a pair of those stands in my shop right now but they belong to a friend, so I won't be cannibalizing them any time soon.

Msailor, I made one similar for my nephew, 1 1/2" PVC pipe I think, then cut at a 45* at the top and in a rack that was teared. I copied it from some where, not my design but not here on SS. Bout the same width, but 3 tears up, it holds about 30 chisels, some are bench/hand chisels, the rest turning.

What's the power cord for?

I have found storing sharp pointy things with their cutting edge exposed was always a ticket to the vet to get my paw stitched up. Never fails I manage to snag myself, stab myself or general wound myself when sharp cutting edges are exposed.

Now I build my tool holders in a way that I can readily see the edge but with that edge protected in such a wHy I can't stab myself, fall onto them, swing my hand into them OR if tray falls the cutting edge will not be damaged.

Ok JPG you busted me on the electrical cord ! It's an electrical space heater which probably doesn't belong in the shop but we have had some mornings where it has dipped to 55 degrees.l mean really cold ( lol ).

Gosh, Wish we were 55 degrees... This morning was a blistering 9 degrees and with the 22" of snow from Jonas, I can't wait til spring......
