Mom is going to be 96 in May, almost lost her in this past August, my bro is a PA, physicians assistant, his wife is an RN, they have dealt with death and dying. He suggested this book, which was mandatory reading back in the early 80s. Written by a Elisabeth Kubler-Ross; Death and Dying. The five stages.
For any of us with a loved one/parent on the verge read it, for anyone of are seniors here one the verge or fear of it and want to hang on, read it, to give you an insight and help to give you piece with it.
Personally, I have beat it 3 times, I think the Virgin Mary looks over me, I have no fear of dying, we are all going to, just a matter of when and how, short of a fatal accident, or a major medical thing that the EMTs arnt there in time, I will make peace with all, things in order, and choose my place and how, already have the places picked out and the how.

Thanks ER-dude. Here is the executive summary from wikipedia if you don't want to read the book. It applies to many things in life.
