I would buy that sucker in a heart beat if I had the room. Really a beautiful band saw. It looks like it is driven with a flat leather belt.

When I went to my grandparents house for the summer in the 50's grandpa took me to work every day at the lumber mill. There were many machines that had flat exposed leather belts. We had a crimper that crimped the metal loops on each end of the belt. They fit together alternately and there was a piece of round dry hard raw hide that was used to slide through the loops to connect the belt.

As I view those photos, I find at least a couple of blade guards. There is a long one on the back of the saw and there is one on the front where the blade comes down from the upper wheel. :)
