Fish lures

Has anyone tried turning fishing lures. The second part of the question is has anyone actually fished with them? I'm old enough to remember seeing some wooden lures in Dad's tackle box and they worked then. I don't think fish have gotten much smarter.
Anyway, it looks simple enough and I just wondered if anyone has tried it.

greenvilleguy, I know some of the lures you are talking about!! I don't see why they wouldn't work.. That would be a good project to try!!! Catch a fish on one and people will be begging for you to build them one!!! Could turn into a sideline business for you!!!

Penn State Industries has kits, but they cost around $2 a lure. Unless I find a cheaper source for the hardware, it isn't going to be a very profitable business.
Anyone, it's a way to combine my two of my three hobbies - woodworking and fishing. Now if I could figure out how to turn golf balls, I'd have all three covered.

This may be what you had in mind but I think I may give one of these a try...
