I dont always wear my shop apron which has pockets for tape measure, pencil, 6" rule ect. I picked this up for the times I dont wear it. I really like it. It has a loop in it for your belt to go through it, and also a clip to put it on your belt or waste band for the suspender wearers.

It (they) looks as though it would be very convenient and might be a good replacement for the shop apron. My problem is I would have to get over a very bad habit of putting tools every where except where they belong.

If I didn't have to search for a pencil or a ruler or whatever while in the shop it just would not feel right.

I'm particularly fond of looking just to the left of the pencil on my bench and wondering where I put the pencil.

As posted on another thread about tool organization, I HATE looking/hunting for things, wasted time, and yes most of us here have more time then money.
I was working on the ER design wooden bench for one, hung the tool pouch by the clip on my right blue jean hip pocket, tape and pencil were at the right height to just grab at will. That metal bracket for the tape measure to use its thingy sure was better then the hip pocket. I wear mostly T shirts, even with a breast pocket they are not conducive for a mechanical pencil. This has a slot for one and again just perfect. best 10$ I spent. Plus separate S&H!!!

I like it! I usually wear a cross the back strap shop apron but in the summer it gets hot. This would be perfect. I learned doing construction how much a time saver a tool belt is.

Right now Rockler has free shipping on order of more then $35, a good time to pick up a few of their goodies.

I don't really ever wear aprons or tool belts unless I have to. If I do have to I have a tool belt and nail pouch which pretty much does anything there pouches do. I also have army surplus pouches and hammer hangers etc.

I do like the fact you can hang them but I have very few areas where that would help.

So for me I'll bow out on getting any.

Maybe you are not old enough. Many of us have reached the age where we can spend most of day looking for our pencil that is stuck behind our ear.

I don't like to wear a tool belt when working in the garage. I guess it is an image thing but I feel funny looking like a rough in carpenter when doing fine wood working. However after looking at some of my "fine wood working" maybe I should be wearing a tool belt.

It is not the tool belt that makes you appear as a rough in carpenter; it is the claw hammer, chisels and 20' tape measure.

I loose pencils all the time but I keep a ready supply so if one goes missing I don't search for it I replace it. It will turn up again another time. Besides they get dull so getting one with at fresh point is a good thing.

Ready supply:
I think we all have our own adjustments we make to accommodate the way we work. I also keep extra rules and tape measures around in case I misplace them. At least things as large as the shopsmith don't get lost, yet anyway.

Ed, Being married to an elementary school teacher we buy a lot of pencils! I do the same as you. I see you save pill containers as well -- Best way to store pen bushings!
