I just got a jointer along with a used Shopsmith and in the box of manuals, even though there was no manual for the jointer, there is a small triangular piece of thin card stock labeled "shaft alignment template". I tried to find a reference to it but can't. Just wondering what it's used for. I figured this is the place to find the answer.

If it is what I am seeing is when you slide the Head Stock over to the joiinter shaft, they would like them to mate up within a 1/16 of an inch, before attaching the coupler. You may have to adjust the height of the jointer mounting.

The Max height allowed by the forum is 1080.

By rotating so the narrow dimension is vertical, the horizontal resolution is greater than 1080 which it would have been if 'upright' and the resultant width lesser still.

i.e. 1080 x 1407 is better than 829 x 1080! (h x w)
