This week I made I a birdhouse and stand for a side table that needed something. The table sits next to a rocker that is never used, but serves as a focal point. Tools used: Shopsmith Mark V and 7 (bandsaw, drill press and table saw) Delta 46-470 lathe and the Powermatkc 3520. Woods used: base- bird peck maple. Yardarm: walnut. Birdhouse top, cherry from a friends tree, bottom is Cypress.

Very nice work. I have a book on making Christmas tree ornaments and I am starting a few to get a jump on making gift items.
I have a box of sea urchins to try to turn into ornaments if I can ever get my spindles to turn out looking like I want them to.
I just can't the long convex part of the spindle to look right. But I will keep trying.

A very lovely piece, and beautifully crafted. Is it your own design?

Well shucks, then I better give you some, before ol' eagle-eye JPG jumps in. To wit, don't use a camera angle that has the birdhouse pointing right at the end of your baseboard, until you get around to making a proper return for it! ;) :D
