Spherical washer needed

Anyone got a spare spherical washer they can send to a broke grad student? I know the mother ship has them but I really am a broke grad student and even that couple bucks seems like a small fortune at the moment. I am trying to finish up refurbishing a goldie to be able to do a little therapeutic wood working in my spare time. The washer is the only missing piece holding up this project. Thanks.

Don't know what it is.

I am betting that what is needed is sperical washer, #53 (501317) on the quill control.

If I had one, I would donate it to the cause but I do not.

If you got a part number and where it is located, that would help.

If we can assume that it is a part in the headstock, a simple pdf search for "spherical washer" will reveal that there is only one and it is part of the quill control mechanism.

BTW the quill can be locked even with this washer missing. This would allow you to make saw dust while waiting for the part.

I might have one, if it would be found in the quill swap-out from the PowerPro upgrade. I just moved my box of old headstock parts out of my garage and out to our acreage, so it might be a bit before I can get out there and check for it, too. If expediency is the order of the day, I'm probably not your guy on this part, but if you confirm the part number, I'll take a look next time I'm out there if you haven't secured one yet.

I do not know for certain but I do not believe that this part (if my assumptions are correct) is part of the PowerPro upgrade. The upgrade provided a new quill but not the quill control mechanism.

If I am wrong, I rest assured that I will be so informed.

Yes Dusty that is the part and part number. Thanks for helping me out with that important missing detail. And thanks for the idea of being able to make sawdust while I wait for the part. I am not sure I would have ever thought of doing that.

A used machine I got had a problem in that the quill would not lock at any location, when I went to check it out the washer was missing. The next phase of the check out was to clean out a bunch of caked on sawdust in the motor pan. When I did that low and behold the washer was down there in the dust.

A PO previous owner had it drop in and more then likely never knew it. This machine was pretty much a basket case and that was one of the things he mentioned did not work.

The point being, are you sure it is missing?

Ed

I am not sure how swell the quill lock would work without it.

Ascertain that it is really 'missing'.

If it is, PM me with your snail mail address.

I think I have 'a spare'.
