Some time back I showed how I salvaged some pen blanks from an Ambrosia maple blank. Now it is time to see the bowl.

Thanks Dick but the actual artist in this case were the ambrosia beetles that infected the tree and left behind the "stuff" that caused the streaking.

The finish is rub on polyurethane high gloss. Sanded with 600 grit between first 4 coats and the 2 coats with no sanding between the 2 final coats.

Bill,

Your bowl is a work of art! I love the patterns and changes in color which is the same reason why I chose spalted maple for my shadowbox when I retired from the Air Force. Awesome craftsmanship!

Pretty bowl Bill! How big around is it? I'll have to try your finishing method next. Working with superglue on my last project didn't catch my fancy.

Very nice! Was the design planned (proportions, curve shapes, template) or creative eye? I especially like the bottom detail. Something in me has always enjoyed the personal signature touch.
Certainly qualifies for keepsake status!

Be well,
Ben
