To do what?

First rule of programming: You need a definition of the problem ... :D

It would be great to have an app that would allow us to read and post to Shopsmith forum.
Hate having to use Safari and then going to favorites then to Shopsmith forum.

Yep that is the reason why I posted this. I click on Gmail find the link click on it and sometimes being a mobile device it appears weird on my screen. I think a app would speed up posting replys interactions of all kinds. Is this put on by the company shopsmith or someone else?

OK, my cut on apps.

Apps work on TINY screens, like on a cell
phone. If you have grey hair, or white
hair, like I do, "apps" won't work.

Not to mention all that typing with my
thumbs, which are an implement of
DESTRUCTION, not meant for "typing."

Sorry to act all "neanderthal" but that is
how I (still) roll. And, if you were to see
me, you'd understand "roll." (I need to
lose a pound or 50!)

That is totally fine as this would tie into the website for computer based people such as yourself!

No worries, Steve. The app would just be an alternate means to post / read the forum for people on phones or tablets--the side of things you are used to would be unchanged, and you'd have no way of discerning who was using the app and who was using a computer with a browser.

I think an app would be great--this forum is just a skinned phpbb implementation. Since it's more or less a generic plug and play forum system, I searched to see if there were plug and play apps for them. It looks like TouchBB might be defunct, but it looks like the Tapatalk plugin for phpBB might still be alive. Usually that amounts to putting some extension files in a directory on the forum server, maybe some minor configuration.

I'd say it's worth trying to find someone to talk to about it--it should be a relatively minor proposition to get at least *some*thing working out of the box (and free).

FWIW, I read and post the forum quite often from my Note 4 using Opera. Just sayin' :)

I'm not sure I need or want another app on my phone. I use a S5 Samsung phone to read and write and post pictures so it can be done, how much less effort would an app be?

Also, we would need two apps, one for Apple stuff and one for android, right?

Are you hoping for in these apps?

No doubt you know more about this stuff then I do so teach us.
