So I looked at the wrong serial number and it turns out my new unit is a Mark 500 from 1981 and not a Mark V from 1985. I realize that the Mark 500 only has the single bearing spindle but since the plan is to us it for a power station for the band saw and sanding it shouldn't be a problem I was just wondering if there are any other quirks I should no about.

Well there are the tables.

Well that was cryptic. Would a Mark VII/7/old one table be better?

Only if the Mark VII carriage comes with it.

That IMHO would be an improvement. Not sure what you would do with the reverse 90 tilt. Might be useful for 'horizontal shaping'.(headstock behind table).

I have two MarkVII/7 units that I will be mounting the 510s on (I need the smaller footprint of the Mark VII/7) so I will have a table and carriage for the shorty/mini (I always forget which is which) to set up for a sanding staion, bandsawm, jointer, etc.
