In the next couple months getting home, next week for 5 days, then in April for 5, and the whole month of May from Mom.
I have 2 ERs ready to assemble, Tubes are are cleaned up, but thinking of using this to clean up the inside diameters on the Head stock tail stock, ect.

They should work well.
Back in the 70's I worked at an auto parts distributor and we sold them.
We got in some big ones on special order, I think they were around 24" in diameter, but they would make them any size, for cleaning things like pipelines.

I was thinking a finer one 180- 220, they just have surface rust if any, just was thinking of just cleaning them up, then Penitrol and wax the insides.

You will need a 4 foot shaft extender(they are only 8" long).

I would just coat with penetrol and skip all the other stuff.

No need for extensions for this.

Now back to the post.

I'm wondering about how well these work for cleaning rust, light corrosion so I vote for getting one and trying it out and letting us know.

My thoughts were to just soak tubes in Evapo-Rust in 2" PVC pipes which would clean the internal rust equally well, then spray a liberal amount of the Evapo-Rust Rust-Block in the center of the tubes, clean any residue on the outside and Johnsons Paste Wax them as recommended.

Evapo-Rust Rust-Block works for a year on its own, and one could do a touch up spray in the ends of the tubes every few years. Many of them are 50 or 60 years old now and internal rust hasn't eaten much metal I suspect.

I'm sure there are a few exceptions but not for the majority of them.

Has anyone used the Rust-Block component in this application or have any data on it?

Yes they'll work!

But, for a Model 10 headstock. (or any model 10 stuff)
aren't they overkill?

Just use some fine wet or dry sandpaper on the bores.
and "you'll be fine."

Yeah, a neat idea. Worth the $ and time? Maybe.

I can see that on CI model 10 parts(not stated in the post, but relevant I believe). On the aluminum Mark castings - not so much.
