We had a visit from a Barn Owl today. He/she was in the tree just outside the front window. Still there over an hour later. Sorry for the fuzzy pics. A dirty window after the winter

Owls are cool. I rarely see them around my place but I do hear them and find the pellets they leave behind.

Very cool. Would be neat to try and track it back to the nest and see if there are any youngins. I don't know how wide their range is though. Probably not feasible[SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES].

Love Owls, Barn Owls are on the rare list, I once watched a National Geographic Special on them, they had one in a barn, sealed tight from light and filmed it in infra red light, and would drag a dead mouse on the floor, with those big dishes around there eyes are sound amplifiers, it was not about eye sight, but hearing there prey.
Here on the Island have a few, Feb is mating season, at night just love listen to them hoot.
Many years ago I used to bow hunt for deer, in my tree stand one evening, full camo, the woods are full of birds and small critters, still light, a Great Horned Owl let out a few hoots, nothing to be seen after that, He said, I am awake and hungry!!!

Isn't it nice to have the wildlife come to you. I enjoy seeing a hawk in our yard from time to time. We have yet to have an owl stop in, well one we knew about anyway. In fact it is rare to even hear them.
We did see a large redtail with a rabbit down at a park near by, it was just able to get off the ground and took it to a tree on the other side of the park. To heavy to hold so it ended up on the ground and well that was were he had his lunch. Didn't have the camera with, I can't always have it along but I sure do miss shots that way.
Thanks for sharing!

Most summers I have a great horned owl hanging around my area. He likes rabbits and squirrels, so I really like the owl.

There is a large Arborvitae tree to the right of the picture. All the sparrow types roost in there. We have hawks come on the same tree as the owl looking for lunch. The owl came back today. Strange to see them in the day time.
Then there is the nesting Eagles. Hence the name of my wood shop. The tree is about 1 1/2 miles north east of the shop.
