Hi, I am wondering if anyone in here can direct me on replacing the on and off switch on my 520. Not the toggle but the plastic switch. It works but may have a bare wire in it and want to check it out and or replace it.
Thanks in advance.

Why do you think it might have 'a bare wire' in it?

I believe it is a short because it was stalling then it would go. Then it would work ok. Then it would start to smoke. I moved the wire and it is not smoking or stalling now. I don't want to sell it and be defective. Guess pushing out the switch with a stick will make it work and then I can look at the wires and hopefully make it work ok.
Thanks for your reply.

Loose connection at the terminal perhaps.

Visual inspection of the switch(out of the headstock) could prove 'educational'! ;)

Since you had smoke, I would conclude a direct short. Prudent corrective action is probably a new switch but do a thorough visual inspection of the wires from the switch to the motor.

Thanks for all the reply's. I took the switch out(not as easy as I was told) cleaned it out and made sure the wires were seated into the switch itself. Not more problems and did not have to buy a new switch.
Thanks again all.

OKAY, that is good to hear BUT where did the smoke come from.

The smoke came from the switch area. Must have been a lose connection. Not enough to blacken the switch by heat or show on wires. Guess I caught it on time!!!
