Shopsmith Forums

This was something from back in the days when there were Shopsmith stores. The part number was 516336 and it cost $25 even. It has never been opened much less used. The date on the back is 1990.

I was digging in a box out in the shop and there it was. I kind of remember it but it never got into use so I'm not sure what is up with that.

Does anyone have a history with one of these? Something from the golden age of shopsmith?

Guessing here but it must have been an item that shopsmith the rights to, it has their part number. The magazine is also 1990 so that adds up to shopsmith sell this at almost the same time. It looks like mine is about an inch in diameter. That is smaller then the ones mentioned and mine has a set screw with allen wrench.

A SS modified item with license from the OEM?

Interesting device and article.

The rounded heel side of the skew at that larger radius, must be neat!

When I took the Shopsmith course on turning, we were instructed to grind a curved radius about 3 inches long, on the heel side of the skew. Even the smaller radius of this grind helped my skew handling a bit.

Sorry Ed, looks like your investment has declined in value.

That's the sale price, so when it goes off sale it is $26.59......... and who knows I might not have actually paid $25 I might have gotten it on sale????.
