I have a portable bandsaw on my list of things I want. No not on my list of things I think I have to have but on stuff I think I want. Adam Savage has one so I think I should too.

OK it is not on the top of my list but I'm wonder who here has one and what kind of cool things do you use it for? I was thinking that way and bench tubes would be a snap to do, well a cut to do?? A narrow saw mill? Cutting down small trees? Cutting up small timbers? Bar stock, conduit, any smaller metal things?

Anyway, I see harbor freight has a cheap one which might well serve my needs, I mean I don't normally go for their tools but in this case I might be satisfied with what they have.

$130 minus the normal 20% off gets in with in reach this year. The reviews seem to be pretty positive for what ever that is worth.

So owners and closet owners what do you think of what you have?

I have the Milwaukee version and love it. Very heavy duty. I use it a lot to cut pipe etc. I originally bought it years ago to cut decorative rafter tails. It will knaw through just about anything.

For the last year at least, they've been having 25% off.
on Sunday holidays. They did on Easter, and I cleaned
house. Went 3 times, with 2 other guys. Got a 4 foot
"under hood" rechargeable drop light, the first time.
Got a decent clamp the next 2 times, and also got the
THREE free goodies. Guys with me got the same stuff.
(Got me more clamps, and such.

Today's ad, 20% off, but still the 3 freebies. Went with
a friend, got 2, 3 foot clamps, 2 cheap LED lights, 2 tarps,
AND 2, 25 foot tape measures. Cost me $10.30. (Clamps
alone would have been $14.)

Oh, use the light at work. Works just fine!

Interesting that you posted this today, not but an hour ago I found my Easter 25% off coupon that I didn't get to use and tossed it!

Not sure I can wait that long as I have garden project where this sort of saw might make my life a whole lot easier. Will have to see if I can wait that long.... the extra 5% would be nice.

Wow did not know these existed. Could be very handy in many situations, like cutting bench and way tubes.

One of these followed me home today. It comes with a wood/soft material cutting blade which is fine for my first uses. I'll read the manual and then get the blade installed and see how it runs. If I like it then I look for some better blades. I hope there are better blades..........

So perhaps a review will be coming.

Today was going to be the first test of bandsaw, not going to happen right now because it only runs on HIGH speed. Rest of the speed range nothing happens. So it looks like a return is in order. I didn't really want to work on that today anyway since I'll most likely get rained out before long.

Hope they have another in stock.

Portable bandsaw 2 seems to work fine, well at least as far as I got testing it. Have to say at least it runs at all the speeds with blade on. No cutting yet.

They had just one more in stock and I now have it. The previous one had a small hole in the plastic case which wasn't a big deal nor worth taking back for that but since it also didn't work right it was nice to see this case is intact.

Not sure what else I should try in the shop today. While I was collecting cardboard for recycling I dumped of a pile of papers over along with a parts bin. Then later I dumped over a can of peg board hooks...... and then there was the fact that the first saw not working. Not sure how and when I turned into a klutz but it seems to have happened.

I did manage to cut the spaghetti squash in half with out hurting myself so while that is baking I'm going to go and pick up my messes.

How did you dress the cooked squash?

I like some brown sugar, REAL Maple syrup,
and butter while cooking. (Oh, salt and pepper,
too.)

Normally we half them, take out the seeds, bake upside down for about an hour then take the "spaghetti" out and serve with smart balance (olive oil version) and cracked black pepper.

Yesterday we went a little different route and had some with #14 racconto pasta and a vegetable pasta sauce(we add sauteed red and yellow peppers and onions) and serve that over both the baked squash and the pasta.

I couldn't help myself and had two bowls, so today I'm going to be off walking it off. Yes it was good!

I wonder if those Dirty Harry movies are on Prime? Haven't seen them in years so I watched a few clips, the one you posted and too much sugar etc. Then a few scenes from his spaghetti westerns. Wasted at least an hour but it was fun.
