Looking For Jointer Knives

G'day all

I have been looking at getting a spare set of Jointer knives, being in Australia I'm struggling to justify the cost of a set of knives from Shopsmith plus the conversion rate plus the inconvenience of freighting to a family friend in the US and then getting them to freight to me. All up I'd be looking at well over $100 for a set.

I have attempted to contact Shopsmith regarding freight but they dont even respond to my email, which is quite disappointing.

Has anyone come up with an alternate supplier of the knives? I have even considered buying a set and attempting to surface grind them to get the taper on the knives.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Marty

Have you checked out the FAQ section, it suggests calling for orders outside US. There is also a UK dealer listed, their web site looks good, and shows the jointer knives in stock.

I've seen some SS jointer knives going on eBay, and some of the sellers indicate they ship to Australia. Granted, I don't know what those rates would be, but usually you can find out before bidding. Some auctions looked to be new in package, some used. It's unfortunate that it's looking to be so expensive for such a small item. I like to buy from Mother when I can, but in this case you might just be throwing money away on shipping.
