GE 1 & 1/8 HP Motor rotor

I let the rotor from a GE 1 & 1/8 HP motor roll off my bench top with the plastic centrifugal switch slide collar breaking when it hit the floor. This is a unique motor made only for Shopsmith. I would be happy to play for handling and shipping plus extra for the rotor assembly if anyone has a non-operating or burnt out GE motor laying around. Thanks.

I have a line on one that is under water in Houston in a headstock that was replaced. His Power Pro is safe and dry. Sounds like it may be a salvage motor for parts when they get it out. He is relatively sure it is a GE, but he can't get into the area yet. It may be some time.

The rotor and plastic should not be affected too much by the water, and rust can be removed fairly easily with Evaporust.

Unfortunately, though I will be in Houston tomorrow, he will not, and can't get in for about a week. Even then as he said, access to the Shopsmith headstock and other storage unit stuff is down the list for him.

I would verify and pull it for you if it is indeed GE and I could get to it.

I am still looking.

PS - I expect we are going to see a flurry of Craigslist posts for gear that is coming out of the flooded areas across South Texas in upcoming weeks so buyer beware of what you might be buying is in order I suspect.

It is not a short time under water, but rather a long time after that would cause concern.

Doubt it will be identified as flood salvage!

Being under water should not hurt the rotor unless it is totally rusty. The winding area could be effected by water and the case rusting. I have been able to salvage a couple of motors that had set in water for a while. Just had to get rid of the rusty areas. This was when Florida had 3 hurricanes in 2004-2005. It did not effect the windings or wires.
