I came across an AO Smith 1 1/8 hp motor from a Shopsmith this week. The guy who had it has no idea of its condition. From what I can find, it was used in the 1960s in Mark V / Mark VII units. I want to check it out to see if it runs and works. It has only two wires coming out of it. One is green and the other one is white.
Does anybody have a wiring diagram of the headstock wiring so I can see how to connect it up for checking out?

'Green' is likely a faded black.

Single shaft = Mark 5

Dual shaft = Mark VII

Black to switch.

White to switch or direct to cord.

Cord black to switch

Cord green to motor frame.

That's it fer starters.

After taking a better look, the wire I called green is more likely a faded blue wire, so your suggestion should work. The blue wire is the hot to be connected to black for power. The white goes to white, and the green on the power cord to the case like you said.
Thanks for the help.

I was uncomfortable connecting black to green as that would be a serious violation of the electrical code. However, connecting blue to black feels better.
