I've notice that My 10ER seems to have someting that I have not seen on any other ER's. Care to guess? Winner gets a thumbs up!

Looks like a drive hub on the left side of the upper pulley.

Skip Campbell used to offer these. I had not seen one mounted underneath a modified belt cover, but as folks so often say: "It's what we do..." We modify stuff, make new stuff, and make stuff work with other stuff.... better... or something like that.

Well, the drive hub is obvious however, what's the silver looking thing in front of the switch?

Mike

The judges grant the win to JPG for his complete answer!

Now the question is, could this have been from the factory?

I didn't pick that as the very first Shopsmith 10ER I saw as a child had one. I have seen one or two more through the years.

It used to be sold by Montgomery Ward with all the other accessories. The one that is so elusive to me is item #1 the lower saw guard which I have never seen in the flesh. I have never seen item #2 the lower belt guard in the flesh either.

Til this photo, I had never seen the modified upper belt cover to allow the accessory drive to pass through.
