Greenine Jointer on a Grayling

To make a short story long, my nephew bought a 54 greenie with a BS and jointer, turned me on to SS. I have a stand alone 6" jointer but had the opportunity to buy a Menards Clone SS belt sander and 6" jointer, 4 blade cutter head. It works great on a greenie.
So I grabbed the 4" greenie jointer to have on the graying here at moms. It has the straight mounting tubes with the snap rings for mounting height, to get the coupling height I had to raise it 3/16", locked it in with the mounting lock.
Here is my question, I tried to pry down the rings with a screw driver, leveraged against the cast iron base of the jointer, no go.
