Hi All
Well, as many of you know, I now have the Mark V Lift Assist and am very pleased with it. Now I'd like to know how you all feel about the Shopsmith Gas Spring Table-Raiser which is on sale for $49.79 until Sunday, 5/22/2016, at midnight. I'm thinking about purchasing it but would like your opinions before I spend the $$.
Thanks
GeorgeM

I made a Table-Raiser very similar to the ShopSmith one for my 10er dedicated drill press.

It works great and I am very pleased with it.

I looked at it but I personally don't think I need it. I have a 500 set up as a drill press and the table is not all that heavy to move. Even on my 520 sliding the table up and down is not a big deal. Now if they had something that would let me crank the heavy headstock up and down that might be another story.
But again I can't own every tool I see, only most of them and I'm passing on this one. I might change my mind sometime but it is made up for now.

But that be why they have the plastic

rack broken. Trying to raise the head stock in DP mode?

I do not know! I think time is what caused them to crack.

Come on, you are the biggest tool hog here. No lift?

No hogging from me, there are plenty of tools for everyone.
Now that I have the lift assist it is easier to set the machine back down and move the headstock then lift back up, same for the table location if it needs to move could be done that way, so far I have not needed to do that for the table but the powerpro is a bit of a lift with my bad back. Still if they had a lift for the headstock and the price was reasonable I'd go for it. Lifting the table might at some point be to much for me but then there are other ways around this like those "I" beam lift that I made some years back.
