I think it might be time for another potpourri thread

First off the word is pronounced pōpəˈrē or pōpo͝oˈrē. How this works is we post what ever and the the thread goes where ever it takes us and lasts as long as there is interest.

One thing on my mind is wondering why as a wood working forum we don't get more projects posted and a lot more how-to information? It seems it would be natural but it isn't, why is that?

Last Christmas time I showed a shirt that I got that is printed with "my name" above, and a picture of a plane and below that the words "Woodworking" followed by my city and state. I liked it and now I'm on there mailing list (which is fine). Right now they are having a sale and it ends June 3, 2016.

Here is the card front:

If you need a gift for a father or for yourself and you like the designs they have, have at it or if you prefer go for it.

I'm adding short sleeve t-shirt and the hat to my collection..... I do ask that you not use my name, please use your own.

I have admitted here before that I finally came to grips with the fact that while I like doing the projects now and then that I really prefer working "on" my shops to just working "in" them. :)
I am now in a mood to do a few projects but I need to make a push to get things cleaned and organized a bit first.
"Organized"... :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
That will probably pass. :o

Flag poles. I'm looking at getting some flag poles, say 5 or 6 feet long and without flags. They also need to be cheap.

So I'm wondering if I just got some conduit and drilled some holes for ss eye bolts and some sort of ring to go from the flag to the eye bolt could I do this on the cheap? The flags are 3' x 5' and pretty light weight and would not be up all the time but might have to survive some weather....

Anyone done this or even thought about it?

The LDS church does that all the time around here. The same size flag I think. They use what appears to be 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 PVC pipe. They show up all the time in yards by the dozens on days that the flag should be displayed. I have no idea how they are secured in the ground but they are just stuck in the yards, stay for a few days and then removed.

Use shower curtain rings for the flags. We use them to hang those holiday decorative flags.

BTW, I use these in tool boxes in different vehicles to hold things like combination wrenches and box end wrenches together as well as different sizes of adjustable wrenches etc. in groups.
