Trivia...Ford, who made the first pick-up trucks, shipped them to dealers in crates that the new owners had to assemble using the crates as the beds of the trucks. The new owners had to go to the dealers to get them, thus they had to "pick-up" the trucks.

And now you know the "rest of the story."

Something one of my brothers shared with me, no idea if it is true.....

And the first covered delivery vehicle was made down state, in VANdalia?

I always wondered if the Dodge Carvan, one of the first minivans, was named that because it was essentially a CAR(and)-A-VAN

In the same era, I recall some Chryslers(?) claimed that a door was a jar.

The first time I read that joke/pun/riddle was from Micky Mouse in a Disney Comic book. The question was "When is a door not a door?" Ans: "When it's ajar". Corny, Huh?

Technically Ford didn't make the first pickup trucks. A third party company took Ford chassis and put their body on it. They did however make the first production trucks.

Everybody ignores the Falcon / Econolines, Dodge vans and Corvair Greenbrier vans of the early 1960's
When you make a small van using components from compact cars they are minivans.
I currently have 2 older Chrysler Town & Country vans. One (2005) we use for travel etc. and the other (1999) as a work van around the farm. The 2005 replaced a 1999 Chevy Astro Van. I liked the Astro except for horrible left foot room on passenger front.
