How to remove bushings?

I want to change the bushing/bearings on an ER Speed Changer. What are the ways to remove them?
Or do I recall statements made by someone impersonating thee?

I made a support piece, the flare on the bushing is 1" diam, so I drilled a 1" hole with a Forstner bit in a piece hard wood, that it fits loosely in. I tried tapping it out but no movement at all. Any other suggestions?
