I didn't see any information on this when I searched the forum, so I thought I'd put it out there for other Mark VII owners in case it helps them.

I bought my Mark VII last week, and other than a couple of things here and there it is in really good condition. The one thing that concerned me about buying a Mark VII was the plastic cam for speed control. When I called the seller he couldn't remember, but he thought it had been replaced with a metal cam. Either way I decided to go ahead with the purchase. When I got it home and opened it up I was delighted to see a Mark V speed control installed inside instead of the plastic cam from the Mark VII. It works perfectly, and from the outside you can't tell. If people are interested I'll take some pics and post them.

Anyway, for you Mark VII owners out there that have broken cams, this is an option for you! Hope it helps!

It is better if you download the pictures directly to here. that way if Photobucket goes away we don't lose them.

Ok, here are a few pictures. The original owner made some annotations on the parts manual that seem to be relevant to this, so I took a picture of that too in case it has meaning to you guys. Let me know if you need more/different pictures.

Interesting! How about a pix of the 'operator' side.

Not perfect alignment, but appears functional.

I am curious why the fan sheave note. They essentially last forever.

WOW! That really looks good!

I never realized the round dial area was so close to equal on both models.

BTW the 'clutch' knob is a lever knob that was popular on electronic stuff 'back then'. The cam can possibly be fabricated. Fortunately you have the 'bushing' that the cam shaft mounts into on the belt cover.

Also the traverse gear rack looks very good.

Take good care of the power switch.

Take the second key(the 'YPP' ones) and store it in a safe place. Better yet get a copy and store both originals.

JPG I can envision some new appendices for the Mark VII operator manual I have begun restoring based on this information.

That is a game changer for many I am sure.

I wonder about the control sheave proximity to the mechanism, and how far out the Pork Chop is riding on the button, which may be a function of how it is adjusted, but Wow!

This is an exciting new direction for the Mark VII user base.
