Need some advice

My name is Doug. I just acquired a 10E serial number 10290. It is mostly complete, but the saw arbor and the tailstock center are missing. I've looked on line, and not found either part for sale.
1) Should I have a machinist make me a saw arbor?
2) Is the tailstock a #2 Morse, or some other taper?

Thanks,
Doug

Welcome to the ER funny farm, I dont know about the arbor, watch Ebay or PMs from some one here. Yes #2 taper same as on the "modern" machines. So you can buy new from SS, Aka the Mother Ship, MS. Or again Ebay or a PM here, Mom frowns on selling openly on her Forum here.

New saw arbors from Shopsmith will fit your 10E spindle. They come in a couple of different lengths, as they are optimized for different Mark V/5 table systems. I'm not sure which length is better for a 10E/R, or if it even matters. Does anyone else here know?

I think the Mark V 500 length ones are preferable.

Or if used, Mark 5's.

P.S. They need to be 5/8" blade hole since 8" is the max size for a '10'.

OK, a few simple rules on the ShopSmith.

Most ANYTHING that mounts STRICTLY
on the spindle, will mount on ANY ShopSmith.

Period!

And, the second one, ANYTHING that mounts
on the #2 Morse taper of the tailstock, will
mount on ANY ShopSmith.

Reason I said "most anything" on the spindle,
the speed reducer, and speed increaser,
associated with the Mark series, will NOT
fit on the Model 10. (They also mount on the
way tubes, and those are spaced differently
than the Model 10.)

The Model 10 speedchanger WILL work on your
10 E.

Lover, ALL of these show the tailstock drill
chuck adapter.

I'll get some decent links.

This "should" help.

Check my Google Drive Update 2/21/2018 The original direct link to the Google page moved to another location - The thread is now titled: Shopsmith Large Format Drawings, Illustrations and More and found at https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/view ... 90#p185690

There are restored owners guides for the 10E and 10ER that I finished earlier this year.

Click on it and open it, then at the top there is an arrow that allows you to download it to your computer.

You may want them both as some of the 10ER parts found their way to prior 10E units as upgrades.

These PDF's are too large to post on the forum here as there is a 2MB file size limit per file.

:) Everett, thank you for all those files. How do I go about adding my 10E & 10 ER to your registry?
