I was looking at my latest Rockler catalog and noticed that the 2500 lumens LED shop light with reflector shroud is on sale for $29.99 normally $39.99.

I don't have one but I might add one to an order. I have a $10 item I want but you need $35 for free shipping.....

BTW I have not priced these else where so I have no idea if the $30 price is a good one or not.

I would check out the Big box stores for just a bulb and a Chicken Brooder lamp.

Lover, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the
purpose of a chicken brooder lamp, to provide
warmth, (infrared light) not illumination?

Wouldn't an incandescent bulb work better?

You can put whatever bulb you want in the brooder lights. I have a couple with the clips on them that I added an LED bulb to and it makes a great trouble light. I have another over my shopsmith. The light like was listed above I think HD has but it mayve different Lums. I was looking at it a while back

The Brooder light is just a socket, reflector, cord and a way to hang it. When used for brooding typically a heat lamp bulb is installed depending on temperature wanted.

At Tractor Supply (TSC)

Add led 'bulb'.

Replace with heat lamp bulb in de vinter.(the one on the far right).

I think these are the smaller ( low lumens) ones. Rockler also has 4400 lumens lights. This I think would be a great replacement for most other shop lights.

I think these are the smaller ( low lumens) ones. Rockler also has 4400 lumens lights. This I think would be a great replacement for most other shop lights.

Look for K rating/color tone, you dont want to be staining/dyeing wood under Cool, you want warm tones, other wise your end product might no be the shade you want. Especially if trying to match a shade. Ask me how I know

Well as it turned out I found another place that had the item I wanted and for cheaper so I'm not, well at least at this time ordering one of the lights. I would like to see how bright they are but for now I have other things I need to attend to and shopping around for this style light is not one of them.

I have only one overhead fixture in the garage that I could use this in anyway so I'd only ever buy one. The rest of the shop is all T8 bulbs and I have started looking at LED conversion but boy it is still pretty expensive.

I only recently got all new fixtures with electronic ballast and the T8 and am pretty happy with my lighting for now. I might get a few LED "tubes" just to check them out but I don't see spending the money to do all of them at least for now.

Yeah, those led tubes are a bit pricey.
My 8' t-8 ballasts and tubes are about shot. So, replacing with the Hyperikon LEDs from Amazon won't be a great deal more.
A few guys have posted on YouTube about using the LEDs on strips. They've just stuck them on the bottom chord of their rafters.
Actually, all Hyperikon does is put them in a tube and add the electrical components at the ends.
Those strips are cheap enough that I might get a roll and test it out before committing to the Hyperikon tubes.
