Probably on one of those 45 minute 'tips' videos... or so obvious I'm not seeing it..

Some table saw questions:

1. How does one quickly/reliable level the side table so it's 'synched' with the saw table?


I mean: You use the rack/pinion to raise lower the saw table. But it seems like you have to then use a level to match the side table to the same height and hold in place with friction. The rest of the machine seems so well thought out that this seems like I'm missing something.

Shouldn't there be some easy way to move both so they're always at the same level?

2. Is there a way to adjust the extension table (or the main table) back and forth (on the z axis) so that the front of the rail is lined up?

3. And finally... There are two tracks on the saw table for the miter gauge. On one of the tracks... the gauge gets briefly 'stuck' at the beginning of travel. The bottom of the gauge bumps against the curved edge. Once it gets going it's OK. Is there a way to adjust the 'height' of the miter gauge rail off the protractor so that it doesn't bump?

I looked at an on-line manual and it shows the 'glides' on the bottom of the protractor as being adjustable bolts. But mine has these plastic sliders which are not adjustable. What do I do?

Those nylon glides are adjustable.

Actually they are nylon headless screws(think set screws).

They have a screw driver slot on the top end.

The slot is accessible from the top. There are two threaded holes extending down from the top of the miter gauge.

There may be hex socket set screws above the nylon screws(they are used to secure the miter gauge stop rod attachment).

Backing out the set screws(completely removing them) will give access to the glide screws from the top.

Yes this differs from the current design depicted in the on line exploded drawing.

There is no magic way to sync the extension table with the main table. A level or a straight edge gets that done.

When you get to the point of wanting to 'align' the table to the main table(front rear tilt, side to side tilt and front/rear position, there is a simple improvement that can be done.(future reference )

2. And what about front to back alignment? Please see piccie. Is there a way to line these up?

As always...

First step is the get the main table aligned to the blade etc. first, otherwise ext table aligning will need to be repeated.

The 'simple' improvement consists of replacing the 4 screws with 4 studs and 8 washers and 12 nuts. The original washers are used as originally.

The 'holes' on the upright are elongated which allows for that front - rear alignment.

The studs are threaded into the tapped holes in the bottom of the table. The original washers are placed on top of the studs and a nut secures them.

Next a nut, a new washer are placed onto the studs. The mount is then placed over the washers. Add another washer and nut and adjustment begins.

This hardware stack allows semi-independent adjustment at all 4 attachment points(studs).
