I like it! I was the first on this Forum to show the DYI kit I installed over Labor Day weekend, 2010.

For me, I use it most frequently for Lathe, Strip Sander, Drilling, and Table Saw.

I have avoided running the Bandsaw on the PowerPro since I really don't think the stability of that interface is 100% understood. I run my bandsaw on a separate power-head.

I like it; would not want to go back to the old headstock.

I like mine. There were a few growing pains in the beginning but none after the first few were resolved. It runs quiet and vibration free. Virtually no maintenance and no oiling required. I have my bandsaw on a dedicated stand but I have used the 6X48 sander, the strip sander and the jointer as well as the table saw with no problems. I am thinking about possibly doing a DIY for my son.

i don't know nuthin' but I like it very much. The power, quiet, and smoothness is far superior IMHO to the Mark V headstock, and yes I have one I use daily as a comparison. Of course I also like the 10ER's so there is that.

I would get another if I could afford it.

Short answer, I think it is great. I did a extensive review about a year ago, for those interested here is the thread:

I love mine. It survived a Fedex delivery truck fire with no issues! (Kudos to the driver that shoved it off the back!). I think it's a tremendous improvement over the old headstock. I have a 10 Er (with speed changer), a Mark V, and the Powerpro. If i was starting over, i would take a 10 er over the Mark V, and the Powerpro over both. I wonder why Shopsmith still offers the Mark V as a purchase option. The Powerpro is just that much better!

That is an opinion not shared by everyone!

Absolutely an opinion, my opinion. I'm not saying that Shopsmith should discontinue the Mark V headstock, just wondering why they have not from a bean counting perspective. I love old technology, probably more than the average guy. Just look in my basement. I still have functioning reel to reel and cassette machines and I listen to vinal records. All once considered to be top of the line. Just like the Mark V, some still think they are the top. That's fine. :) This post requested opinions, I gave mine.
The old saying, "Opinions are like ...holes, everyone has one" applies to me too! :D

All I was saying, Chris, is that not everyone loves the PowerPro as do some others. Budget willing, I may have one some day.

Chris

I thought the issues with the powerpro and bandsaws had been resolved? Is that not the case?
